Totally Newbie Feeling...
Can someone explain slowly using small words how to install not DAZ 3D itself but add ons (like models) on a mac?

Do I have to Poser? or am I just dense?

...All I want to do is create some original mermaid art for a character I'm writing.-.-

Hi, I'm new here. I'm a art student in singapore, about to graduate from school soon, but I still consider myself quite a newbie in digital art and such. Below is a banner for one of my short 3D animation project. Hope to know people around here and do please give me some pointers whenever possible. Thanks. =D

Magic Eye
Hi folks,

Do you remember Magic Eye stereograms of 90's? Those carpeting images which have hidden 3D image inside. I wonder if you want to join or just to visit a new Magic Eye community at LJ.

New
Hi, I just joined here and i thought i'd say something about myself. I'm 18 years old and from ohio, and i use Daz3d. I have Poser 5 and Bryce 5 but i'm still learning them. This is a full render i made a few days ago. Its supposed to be of Persephone, the greek goddess of the spring, when Hades steals her away to the underworld.

Greetings all! I was browsing the Bryce-related comms on LJ and was glad to run across one that's been updated anything like recently ;)

Anyhow, I thought I'd introduce myself. I'm Scarlett and I love Bryce. I'm currently running 5.5, and I love it to pieces; I also use DAZ Studio and an old copy of Poser from time to time, and I've recently started tinkering in Vue (I have Blender, but haven't tried it yet, and my experience in Terragen is very limited).

Most of my Bryce pieces are space, landscapes, or abstract/surreal. I make a lot of images that are designed to be desktop wallpapers...here's an example:

http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/40069223/ (1024x768)

I'm sure I'll learn a lot from this comm. I look forward to it.

Hi guys,
I'm new to this community and also pretty new to 3D art (I've been using Poser 6 for about 3 months and I'm so hooked on it :¬) ).

I was making a banner for lj and got kinda carried away with it.
The full sized image is behind the cut!

Hope you like it!

Hi. Silly maya hotkey question. Does anyone remember the hotkey for hiding the maya grid? I know you can simply go into the display panel and select it, but wasn't there a shortcut key for it?

Hexagon 2 (vertex modeler) released
Just in case you've been under a rock... Daz3d bought out eovia's Hexagon and Carrara product lines and staff, and has just cut the price of Hexagon from around $270 to $32 (cost of a club membership plus 2 - download only version, but for Mac and PC).

That gives anyone here looking to get into modeling (and not just rendering), but unable to afford most of this stuff, and unable to figure out blender ( :) ), a line in on the game.

It's also PO'd a lot of older eovia customers who bought into pricey pre-orders and are getting 'voucher coupons' in trade... I would have been one of them if I hadn't been too broke to get in on the pre-order...

Grabbed me a copy, no time to use it right now, but figure it's a good idea to get in on this before they change their minds...

Glass Tutorial
I found the tutorial here - http://www.liquid-arts.de/techniques.htm

Edit: updated pic

Created in Lightwave 8.5.

Oh, and the tutorial involved liquid and glass - I modeled the bottle myself, and applied textures myself. The lighting is better, but not realistic.

Any ideas on the lighting?
